Cor Zonneveld

Cor Zonneveld tells about himself:
I was born on April 9th, 1961 at Leiden, Holland. We moved to Amsterdam 5 years later, and ever since I lived in or close to Amsterdam. My interest in butterflies started with raising all kinds of caterpillars, that happily pupated at various spots in my sleeping room. My parents also liked them, so there was no conflict of interests here... Around 1980 I started to photograph them, first all the season round, but later on only during the holidays. My observations on Dutch butterflies are included in the Dutch Butterfly Mapping scheme, and I recently joined the Mapping European Butterflies project organised by Dr. Otakar Kudrna. I use a Nikon F2 camera without flash; the lenses are the three macro-objectives (55, 105 and 200 mm), the 105 mm being my favorite. I like photos with a out of focus and lightly colored background (so no flash for me), and I accept that parts are out of focus. Apart from just being a nice picture, I also like to show them typical behaviors.
Recently I did a course on SCUBA diving. Some underwater photographs can be found on my Natural History Photographs page.
